Cryptocurrency: The Fintech Disruptor

Blockchains, sidechains, mining – terminologies in the clandestine world of cryptocurrency keep piling up by minutes. Although it sounds unreasonable to introduce new financial terms in an already intricate world of finance, cryptocurrencies offer a much-needed solution to one of the biggest annoyances in today's money market – security of transaction in a digital world. Cryptocurrency is a defining and disruptive innovation in the fast-moving world of fin-tech, a pertinent response to the need for a secure medium of exchange in the days of virtual transaction. In a time when deals are merely digits and numbers, cryptocurrency proposes to do exactly that!

In the most rudimentary form of the term, cryptocurrency is a proof-of-concept for alternative virtual currency that promises secured, anonymous transactions through peer-to-peer online mesh networking. The misnomer is more of a property rather than actual currency. Unlike everyday money, cryptocurrency models operate without a central authority, as a decentralized digital mechanism. In a distributed cryptocurrency mechanism, the money is issued, managed and endorsed by the collective community peer network – the continuous activity of which is known as mining on a peer's machine. Successful miners receive coins too in appreciation of their time and resources utilized. Once used, the transaction information is broadcasted to a blockchain in the network under a public-key, preventing each coin from being spent twice from the same user. The blockchain can be thought of as the cashier's register. Coins are secured behind a password-protected digital wallet representing the user.

Supply of coins in the digital currency world is pre-decided, free of manipulation, by any individual, organizations, government entities and financial institutions. The cryptocurrency system is known for its speed, as transaction activities over the digital wallets can materialize funds in a matter of minutes, compared to the traditional banking system. It is also largely irreversible by design, further bolstering the idea of anonymity and eliminating any further chances of tracing the money back to its original owner. Unfortunately, the salient features – speed, security, and anonymity – have also made crypto-coins the mode of transaction for numerous illegal trades.

Just like the money market in the real world, currency rates fluctuate in the digital coin ecosystem. Owing to the finite amount of coins, as demand for currency increases, coins inflate in value. Bitcoin is the largest and most successful cryptocurrency so far, with a market cap of $ 15.3 Billion, capturing 37.6% of the market and currently priced at $ 8,997.31. Bitcoin hit the currency market in December, 2017 by being traded at $ 19,783.21 per coin, before facing the sudden plunge in 2018. The fall is partly due to the rise of alternative digital coins such as Ethereum, NPCcoin, Ripple, EOS, Litecoin and MintChip.

Due to hard-coded limits on their supply, cryptocurrencies are considered to follow the same principles of economics as gold – price is determined by the limited supply and the fluctuations of demand. With the constant fluctuations in the exchange rates, their sustainability still remains to be seen. Consequently, the investment in virtual currencies is more speculation at the moment than an everyday money market.

In the wake of industrial revolution, this digital currency is an indispensable part of technological disruption. From the point of a casual observer, this rise may look exciting, threatening and mysterious all at once. While some economist remain skeptical, others see it as a lightning revolution of monetary industry. Conservatively, the digital coins are going to displace roughly quarter of national currencies in the developed countries by 2030. This has already created a new asset class alongside the traditional global economy and a new set of investment vehicle will come from cryptofinance in the next years. Recently, Bitcoin may have taken a dip to give spotlight to other cryptocurrencies. But this does not signal any crash of the cryptocurrency itself. While some financial advisors emphasis over governments' role in cracking down the clandestine world to regulate the central governance mechanism, others insist on continuing the current free-flow. The more popular cryptocurrencies are, the more scrutiny and regulation they attract – a common paradox that bedevils the digital note and erodes the primary objective of its existence. Either way, the lack of intermediaries and oversight is making it remarkably attractive to the investors and causing daily commerce to change drastically. Even the International Monetary Fund (IMF) fears that cryptocurrencies will displace central banks and international banking in the near future. After 2030, regular commerce will be dominated by crypto supply chain which will offer less friction and more economic value between technologically adept buyers and sellers.

If cryptocurrency aspires to become an essential part of the existing financial system, it will have to satisfy very divergent financial, regulatory and societal criteria. It will need to be hacker-proof, consumer friendly, and heavily safeguarded to offer its fundamental benefit to the mainstream monetary system. It should preserve user anonymity without being a channel of money laundering, tax evasion and internet fraud. As these are must-haves for the digital system, it will take a few more years to comprehend whether cryptocurrency will be able to compete with the real world currency in full swing. While it is likely to happen, cryptocurrency's success (or lack thereof) of tackling the challenges will determine the fortune of the monetary system in the days ahead.

Protective Film For Cars and Automobiles

For those people who absolutely love their cars, protecting the paint becomes an obsession. Years ago, the promise of perpetually perfect paint was introduced with the invention of clear coat paint protection. Clear coat was definitely an improvement and offered great protection against sun damage and oxidation, but it fell far short when it came to physical protection from road debris and scratches.

To protect against road debris, a couple of inventions came about. One was referred to as a car bra. This was basically a polyurethane cover that fitted over a car's front end and protected the most vulnerable part of the vehicle from flying gravel and bugs. This helped, but there were two main problems. It did not protect the entire vehicle, and it was absolutely atrocious to look at. The other attempt was something called a bug shield. This was a small plastic piece that attached to the front of the vehicle and re-directed the air currents up and over the vehicle. Though somewhat effective in protecting the front end of the vehicle from flying debris and bugs, it did nothing to protect a stationary car from scratches. And, who would want one of those on their $ 70,000 corvette?

The next evolution in paint protection is commonly called paint protection film, though individual companies refer to it by various names. This is a thin, thermoplastic urethane material that adheres to the vehicle's paint and protects it from all types of minor damage. It can be applied to the entire vehicle, giving overall protection, unlike the other devices.

The paint protection film is applied in a similar fashion to window tinting film. Anyone who has attempted a do-it-yourself window tinting job understands how difficult the job can be. Though not impossible for amateurs to do, if one expects perfect results the job is best left to professionals.

These days it is easy to find professional paint protection film installers across the country. Nearly all automotive paint shops offer this service for a reasonable price and many offer package deals with the purchase of a new paint job.

There are a couple of important reasons why professionally installed clear paint protection film is the best option. First, the professionals have the proper facilities. Before installing the film, the car must be spotlessly cleaned and must stay that way until the film is applied. The pros have clean, dust-free bays where they can do the work. The average amateur's garage is somewhat less than a dust free environment. The second reason is the fitting of the film. Applying the film to curved surfaces offers a challenge requiring more than simple straight cuts. It takes time to perfect this technique and the average Joe will likely need several tries to get it right. It's best to save the time and let the pros handle it.

Cheap Liability Auto Insurance Info: What Should You Do to Find Affordable Car Insurance Coverage?

Getting just the minimum amount of auto insurance in your state can be risky, since it's usually not enough to cover everything. It might help you pay for damages to the other person's vehicle or property, as well as their medical expenses, but what about your own car and medical expenses? The idea is to try and get the most coverage possible with cheap liability auto insurance.

Carefully read over all of the different types of coverage and decide which ones will be right for you. Search for quotes online and read reviews on each company to learn more about them. Just as you'd never buy the car itself without first shopping around, you should do the same with insurance. How do you get quotes? You enter details about your age, location, car, etc. and hit "submit" or "search". The details that you have to enter vary depending on the website you use for searching for quotes.

You don't want your cheap liability auto insurance to be too cheap. Look for value, not the lowest monthly rate. Also, there are deductibles to consider. If you really aren't confident that you'll be able to pay money out of your pocket in the event that you are involved in a collision with a lot of damage, then consider paying more on the premium. Try cutting a few other expenses here and there to help you make the payments.

Cheap Liability Auto Insurance Coupons and Discounts

The good news is that there are always ways to save money, as auto insurance companies often offer coupons and discounts to help both new customers and loyal customers. For instance, you might be able to get a discount off your first-term premium by signing up and buying car insurance with a particular company. There are also "pay-in full" discounts that will give you a percentage off the premium if you pay it upfront instead of monthly.

There are several other categories of potential discounts as well, such as being a good, safe driver with a clean driving history and having safety features installed. A few examples include "Anti-Theft Discount", "Antilock Brakes Discount", "Defensive Driver Discount", etc. Even though younger people are usually expected to pay more money for auto insurance, there are still "Good Student Discounts" offered by most insurers.

In summary, you'll want to learn about the minimum car insurance requirements in your state and then fill out a form to search for quotes. Compare them and look over all of the discounts. The best place to start your search for cheap liability auto insurance is esurance.

A Climate of Change – Who's NASA?

On April 11, 2012, a letter arrived at NASA Headquarters in Washington, DC It was addressed to Administrator Charles Bolden from 49 former NASA astronauts, scientists and engineers, including some legendary figures from the Apollo "failure is not an option" era. Tersely, it asked that the Agency refrain from making unsubstantiated claims that human-produced carbon dioxide is having a catastrophic effect on Earth's climate.

NASA's public reaction was swift and predictable: Human-produced carbon dioxide is a leading cause of climate change. The facts are undisputed and indisputable. Have a nice day.

The letter-writers are conservative lunatics, right?

Well, maybe. Regardless of how it happened, the earth's surface is becoming less habitable even as its human population expands, limiting our prospects for survival as members of a free society. There are options. Dispersal is a universal strategy for survival. In the natural world, when the going gets tough, the tough get going – out of town. But where does a mere human go?

For a limited time, we had, and I believe we still have, the technical, financial, and organizational means to expand the human range beyond Earth into the inner solar system. If we can do that, and keep going, our prospects are limitless. Data I have seen suggests that we can start with a modest investment of $ 200 billion per year (in 2008 dollars) over fifteen years. That would buy us our first self-sustaining space colony, fully independent of resupply from the earth. It would allow us to sidestep central control's false dichotomy, which is the real issue with conservatives. They just don't want to live in a cave while working for the man with the Boeing Business Jet, the 328-foot mega-yacht, and the fleet of Rolls Royce Silver Shadows. Therefore, they do not buy the facts that are said to justify their bondage.

Space colonization gives us that third alternative beyond an impoverished life versus environmental Armageddon. It also provides the means (energy and materials) to give Earth a more prosperous, untrammeled existence. As always, there are barriers to overcome. The barriers in this case are not technical, financial, or organizational, but they do exist. According to the global Boeing Business Jet class, every other human being on the planet owes them a life. No one leaves until the debt is paid. Their demand for sacrifice, denser housing, rationing of water and energy, and redistribution of wealth is a strategy to fill their coffers at the expense of others. That and frontier formation are mutually exclusive propositions. There is a reason why frontiersmanship stands at the core of American values. It is because the most fundamental right of all is the right to leave.

It is not clear whether the people who took us from the earth to the moon in just ten years understand that they have focused a spotlight on an agency and a government completing a decades-long transition from tough and competent to comatose. It is clear that NASA, and the United States, are no longer capable of acting to preserve their founders' legacy without help.

That help can take the form of entertainment, of theater, of decentralization, and of spacefaring technology and cultural development independent of government intervention. Details are left as an exercise for the student.

Decision Matrix Considerations at NASA

Decision Matrix Considerations at NASA

Determining components for Rovers, Spacecraft, Lunar Colonies and ISS is no easy matter in the race for Space. Additionally it is difficult to trust ones life to the components all built by the lowest bidder when it is know that such technologies, prototypes and one offs will mean life or death for real people; that is to say astronauts, research scientists or even wealthy space travelers whose funds are necessary for the advancement of the human race. Luckily there are many brilliant individuals working on Artificial Intelligent scripts and programs to help with the decision matrix to evaluate our best options for safety, efficiency and utility. Some of these programs are written in;

http://www.mathworks.com/applications/controldesign/mbd_ad.html?fp

One individual who stands out as an up and coming scientist in this field is Richard Campanha whose script along with some in house testing on Dr. Christie Iacomini's

part with Paragon were what ultimately helped the script become useful in developing a decision matrix script for evaluating processes of manufacturing components to do a certain task on the Lunar Base Station. By developing a simple script capable of comparing over 5 different types of autonomous fuel / life support producing factories, that were previously unable to be compared. This method was generalized and allowed for any future ISRU plants to be compared and contrasted.

http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/planetary/mars/marssurf.html

By determining the best system the United States can realize its dreams of a Moon and Martian Colony. By putting a self-generating and rocket fuel factory on Moon in a Lunar Colony we can advance mankind's exploration of the Solar System and have a re-fueling station. This will allow us a way to move more out equipment, weight, supplies and people out of our atmosphere without the fuel expenditures needed to carry more fuel for the actual journey.

For mankind and the United States of America to realize our dreams and successfully complete our Roadmap to the Moon, Mars and Beyond it will take the best and brightest amongst us and the inner strength of us all. Thankfully we have the brilliant minds we will need to make this dream a reality. Think on it.

Are Nurse Practitioners Just As Trustworthy As Doctors?

There are approximately 200,000 licensed Nurse Practitioners ("NP") in the United States, making it likely that you will run into one at some point. Contrary to popular belief, for the average person's normal needs, NPs may be just as helpful as regular doctors, and are often easier to schedule an appointment with.

Are Nurse Practitioners Trustworthy?

Like medical doctors, Nurse Practitioners are trained in all areas of primary care, including diagnosis, treatment, prevention, health education, medication prescription, and medication management. They have completed registered nursing school as well as graduate-level or doctoral-level educations that include didactic and clinical coursework, and are licensed to diagnose and treat patients without supervision from a medical physician. Their Master's programs may take up to three years while their Doctorate programs can take up to six years. You may find them working in a private practice, a school, a nursing home, in the emergency room, or in public health departments. Over 50% work in family or adult practices, but others also specialize in gerontology, neonatology, oncology, pediatrics, psychiatric-mental health, women's health, and acute care. Every two years they are required to show proof of continuing medical education to renew their license to practice in all 50 states. They also work collaboratively with medical physicians, especially if faced with a new or unfamiliar situation.

The American Association of Nurse Practitioners recently published a study summarizing evidence that compared patients under NP care with those under the care of regular physicians. The study found that patients under NPs had higher satisfaction, fewer readmissions to the hospital or visits to the emergency room, and higher rates of avoiding unnecessary hospitalizations. Additionally, they may also be a more cost-effective alternative to doctors, due in large part to lower educational costs – approximately 25% that of medical school.

What Are The Benefits Of Seeing A Nurse Practitioner Instead Of A Doctor?

NPs provide almost all of the services that doctors provide, such as:

– Examining and diagnosing patients
– Treating short-term issues and prescribing medications or other treatments
– Treating long-term issues like diabetes or high blood pressure
– Providing healthy lifestyle counseling and education on disease prevention
– Managing consistent, overall care for patients (like primary care physicians)

In addition, NPs tend to focus more on preventative care, as they may often be less busy with appointments than regular physicians and have more time to listen and discuss preventative issues such as quitting smoking, maintaining a healthy diet, and keeping regular exercise habits. Depending on where you live, they may also be more readily available than a primary care physician, especially if you are not located in an urban metropolis. The United States has a shortage of primary care providers, so the convenience of scheduling with a Nurse Practitioner may be crucial if you have a pressing need to be seen by a healthcare professional.

Of course, whether you choose an NP or a medical physician, you should be mindful of their communication style and the natural rapport you develop with them. Always follow your intuition about whether or not you trust that person with your healthcare.

5 Reasons Doctors Love Dr House

Most doctors I know get a kick out of the television show, "House." Though we're all aghast at his bedside manner and cavalier attitude, still there is a certain attraction. Those not in the medical field may wonder how physicians can enjoy watching such a callous fellow.

Here are the five top reasons doctors love Dr. House.

1. Dr. Gregory House says things doctors would like to say themselves, but don't have the nerve. Most doctors filter what comes out of their mouths. They may think curse words, but seldom say them. We rarely accuse our patients of lying, even when we suspect it. We may think our patients have behaved foolishly, but we keep our thoughts to ourselves. It comes as a catharsis to finally hear a doctor (albeit an imaginary one) say things that cross every doctor's mind.

2. Dr. House does do any paperwork. Doctors hate paperwork. It's not only beyond boring, but sometimes perceived as interfering with patient care. The benefits are usually invisible, uncompensated, and extend the workday (needlessly, he would add).

3. Dr. House walks away from boring cases. Few doctors have this privilege. Physicians take patients as they come, without guarantee of intellectual stimulation. For family physicians, this means seeing high blood pressure patients, day after day after. For dermatologists, it's acne, psoriasis, and eczema, and for cardiologists it's heart attack, heart attack, heart attack. Even poor Dr. Wilson sees cancer, cancer, cancer.

4. Dr. House does not worry about getting paid. He's apparently on a salary, and gets paid the same no matter how few patients he sees or clinic hours he skips. Other doctors get paid by the patient or by the hour and are expected to produce. Most of us would be happy to have an afternoon to spend watching TV or surfing the web, while others are busy doing our work for us.

5. Dr. House does not worry about what anything costs. For a doctor it's a burden to not only worry that the right tests are ordered, but that they'll be paid for, either by insurance, the patient, or the government. House simply does care. He orders every test in the book. In real life it's not the hospital administrators who are looking over our shoulders to see what tests we've ordered – it's the insurance companies that require pre-authorization and proof that less expensive therapies have already been tried. Being an advocate for our patients, and taking the extra time to make sure appropriate testing is obtained, generally amounts to more uncompensated paperwork. Bullying your way through simply does not work for real doctors.

Aside from his diagnostic skills, Dr. House is the antithesis of a good physician. But still he's funny, and now and then I learn a thing or two. Once or twice a season I solve the case before the esteemed Dr. House – which keeps me coming back for more. The cases are true, by the way, all oddballs that the average doctor might see once in a lifetime. In medical school we're taught that when you hear hoofbeats, you should think horses, not zebras. But in Dr. House's case, he's got a stableful of zebras.

Michelangelo and the Prisoner in the Stone

" Ogni blocco di pietra ha una statua dentro di sé ed è compito dello scultore scoprirla." – Michelangelo

(Every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it)

The work of a sculptor has always seemed to me extremely fascinating. Think for a moment: you have in front of you a block of marble and you begin to carve with a chisel. Little by little, from the stone a "form" begins to appear, the stone begins to have a "meaning", and this form and meaning represent the materialization of an idea that was in your mind as well as the manifestation in the physical plane of your creative power. It's something that makes us similar to the gods.

This process can appear trivial, but there are some aspects that deserve to be explored: the block of marble is a space of infinite potentiality, it contains an infinite number of statues of which only one will materialize. It is interesting to note that to sculpt a statue is a process that does not involve a real "creation", as the statue is ALREADY inside the stone, but it implies the elimination of all that is unnecessary and prevents the statue to come to light and to manifest.

This space of infinite potentiality has practical limits: the most obvious concern the size of the stone. While it is true that every stone contains an infinite number of statues, it is clear that this statue that will be "liberated" will have inherent limitations due to the size of the block.

Other limits may depend on the technical capacity of the sculptor: it might happen that we can visualize a sculpture, that surely lies within the marble, but we are not able to materialize it due to our inability. Other limitations may appear due to errors in direction: maybe we started with one subject, but after a period of time our creativity has led us in other directions; unfortunately, the stone is not clay, and what has been removed, has now been removed forever. Surely, if we just start to chisel in a random way and we remove material without having in mind a vision, we'll hardly be able to produce something of value.

What is certain is that at any time, regardless of the size of the stone or the deformed shape it has taken, due to mistakes in technique and direction, this stone will continue to contain an infinite number of potential statues, and – equally certain – It contains a sculpture that can become a masterpiece. Then, it's the sculptor's responsibility to choose between focusing on this potential masterpiece, or dispersing the attention to the statues that he can't complete because of these limitations and therefore victimizing himself. It's his choice, and the decision to focus on potentialities rather than on limits represents the true essence of free will.

We also have a block of stone to carve, that is our own life. At every moment we have an infinite number of possibilities to choose and to do whatever we want with them. Certainly, if we act in a random way, we'll hardly be able to produce something that has meaning; and, as in the case of the sculptor, the manifestation of this value is not so much a creative process, but much more one of discovery and liberation of release of what we already are, however that remains hidden by emotional blocks, inhibitions, fears and limiting beliefs that prevent the full expression of potential.

Still, these potentialities are endless, yes, but still limited. There are a number of real limits, due to the initial situation, health, culture, past mistakes … but in spite of these limitations (which are often false and exist only in our minds, but that's another story), regardless of how difficult, complicated, without any exit our situation may appear to us, we still have an infinite potential to manifest, and we have the chance to make something of our lives that can represent a masterpiece.

And the choice between focusing on the potentialities or on limits is something in which we are continually faced with in life: if, due to an accident, we find ourselves with legs amputated, it is clear that we are faced with a limit.

It's up to us to choose whether to spend the rest of our lives complaining and victimizing ourselves thinking about what we can't do, or choose to focus on the potentiality and to decide to make the most of the remaining resources, which continue to be endless. It's our choice and – as in the case of the sculptor – it's the true essence of free will.

There is, however, a fundamental difference between a block of marble to sculpt and our life, which makes the metaphor not completely comparable. While marble, when not used or when the sculptor thinks, waits, procrastinates, … it remains unchanged, our life – while we wait – still passes, and opportunities at our disposal diminish.

Picture the scene: you're in front of your block of marble, and while trying to figure out what to do, the block becomes smaller and smaller. Until it disappears.

What are you waiting for, to make a masterpiece of your life?
